Candidate Highlight: Iowa's Senate Seat

Meet Theresa Greenfield, a Democrat running for the Iowa Senate seat. Theresa is an urban planner, and has worked in real estate and development. Growing up on a farm in Iowa, Theresa is committed to investing in and supporting rural communities. She is dedicated to strengthening unions, as she has learned first-hand their importance when her first husband, a union electrical lineman, died in a workplace accident. Theresa is against big money and corruption, and for clean energy and gun control. She is a strong supporter of accessible and affordable healthcare and education, and recognizes the significance of grassroots organizations.

Meet Joni Ernst, a combat veteran andthe incumbent Republican Senator. Elected in 2014, Joni has become a loyal advocate of Trump’s policies, voting with his position 91% of the time. She was also a possible VP candidate in 2016, and voted to acquit Trump during impeachment. She is pro- life, and joined other Senators in petitioning the Supreme Court to reconsider Roe v. Wade in January 2020. She also voted to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Ernst received an “A” rating from the NRA, has supported open carry legislation, and has expressed her uncertainty of the science behind climate change. On the topic of same-sex marriage, Joni believes that it is a “state’s issue”, but while running in 2014, she said she would support a federal ban if one was proposed.

A poll from June 15 shows Greenfield leading Ernst by just 3 points. This race will be extremely tight. Here’s how you can work on or support Theresa’s campaign:
